Greetings all...If any of you are local (in Western Massachusetts), I will be doing my last two local readings this coming week—this Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the University of Massachusetts and on Thursday, Oct. 27th at Greenfield Community College. (NORWEGIAN ARTISTS, POETS, SCHOLARS & CURATORS) INSTITUTE FOR NEO-CONNOTATIVE ACTION—Deadline: November 15th, 2011
UKS and INCA announce a new residence program. We are currently accepting applications to attend the INCA residence program in Detroit during the spring 2012. The residence program is open for Norwegian based artists, poets, scholars and curators. In the proposal we are looking for an intended working approach and not neccesarily a detailed project description. These scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies or research in Switzerland at a public funded university or recognised institution. Eligibility
* Candidates must hold a university degree (Bachelors/Masters) on commencement of the scholarship.
* Candidates must be able to demonstrate their academic abilities and what they aim to achieve.
* Candidates must contact the institution and/or the professor supervising their period of research. Universities may request supplementary information and/or set certain additional conditions to determine whether or not you qualify for admission.
* Candidates must be under the age of 35 (born on or after 1.1.1977).
* Candidates must be suitably proficient in the language of instruction (French, German, Italian or English). A language test is required.
* Swiss government scholarships may not be combined with other scholarships or awards.

Length and amount
Scholarships are provided for a nine-month academic year. Scholarships for postgraduate or Masters programs lasting up to 2 years (3 or 4 semesters) may be extended depending on results from the first year.

Scholarships consist of monthly payments of:
CHF 1920.- for postgraduate students
CHF 1920.- for fine arts and music students

(MUSICIANS & COMPOSERS) Roots and Rhizomes Percussion Residency at the Banff Center: Led by contemporary percussion champion Steven Schick, this unique program is geared towards early to mid-career artists, who want to contribute to the growth of contemporary percussion.

Roots and Rhizomes will feature three primary activities:

1. performances by the residents of selected repertoire,
2. coaching, lessons, and master classes,
3. seminars and discussions led by faculty.

Roots and Rhizomes seeks to foster new music for contemporary percussionists by commissioning and premiering new work in an environment where performers and composers work collaboratively. Open to international musicians. For more info:

(ARTISTS/CURATORS/SCHOLARS) Paths Crossing Production Residencies—Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP) / Baltic Art Center / Fabrikken for Kunst og Design / Nordisk / Kunstnarsenter Dalsåsen / Temple Bar Gallery & Studios: You are eligible to apply if you live and are professionally based in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Poland, Romania or Slovakia.

In partnership with four North European artist-in-residence centres, HIAP is pleased to announce an open call for applications to visual artists and art professionals under the age of 40 from new and applicant EU Member States. Visual artists and art professionals are invited to apply for research and production residencies hosted by the organizers within the framework of the Paths Crossing project. This residency and cooperation project is co-funded by the European Union's Culture Programme for 2010–2012.

The five participating artist-in-residency centres are together able to offer fifteen individual production and research residencies, each from one to six months in duration. Artists, curators, critics and researchers based in Europe (see countries above) are all eligible to apply.

The selected applicant will receive:
• a travel grant
• a subsistence grant to cover living expenses
• a production grant
• free accommodation and studio space for the duration of the residency
• administrative, practical and curatorial support in developing a project within the framework of Paths Crossing
• support in establishing contacts with local artists and organisations

Applications will be accepted from professional artists and art professionals under the age of 40 with at least 5 years of continuous professional experience in the Visual Arts (no restrictions of approach or medium). No students please. The applicant should live and work in one of the eligible countries mentioned above.
