Arabic Designs
Arabic mehndi refers to temporary body art painted on the hands or feet with henna paste. Henna is a tall shrub or small tree, 2-6 m high. Henna flowers have four sepals and a 2 mm calyx tube with 3 mm spread lobes. Henna leaves are first grinded to dust and mixed with mixture of mustard oil as well as tea to make a thick paste. Usually this is a shade of brownish red, but the henna can be mixed with other plant materials to alter it’s natural coloring. Once the mehndi paste has been applied then you can not really use your hands for the next few hours as enough time has to be given to the mehndi in order to completely dry.
