My Oprah Favorite Things

1. Oprah screaming names: I will never tire of hearing Oprah scream names and announce things in that Oprah way like a complete nut job while getting paid millions upon millions of dollars a year to do it; I believe its about 300 million a year for the past few years. I love the video compilation of her guest name (shouting introductions).

2. Making up catch phrases: Oprah loves to make up catch phrases and make her guests use them too. The Aha moment was mentioned a lot in these later years and she even prompts guests to state that they have had an Aha moment by asking if that was an Aha moment for them or something similar just to make that phrase catch on which they always do. Oprah pretty much coined the term "Va jay jay" and since she started using  it went mainstream quickly and was on Grey's Anatomy and other television shows.

3. Gayle: Gayle King is well known as Oprah's best friend but she also does have her own show on the OWN network and is the editor-in-chief of O Magazine. Every time she was on the Oprah show you knew it was going to be hilarious because Oprah lets her hair down with Gayle, sometimes literally. It was awesome when Oprah and Gayle went back in time. Remember that? I think Kathy Griffin describes the situation best in this (clip).  This is a good example of Oprah getting real and being ghetto when she goes back in time to the 1600's. Gayle asks for her bacon crispy and Oprah looks at her like bitch you got nerve and says "this isn't a restaurant!" The best part of the back in time special was when she was thinking to herself about what role she would have in 1600's colonial time and she quickly decided "I'm not gonna be no slave!"

4. Road trips: The roadtrips with Gayle across the country and to Yosemite were priceless moments where Oprah got real and ghetto and also showed how rich she was - ie not knowing what panera bread was when she was in Yosemite. Its funny to see her and Gayle together because Gayle keeps Oprah in check and treats her like a real person, its funny to see her give Oprah a hard time. Oprah tends to braid her hair on these trips and its funny to see her look like an average person.

5. Molestation: How many times has she talked about child abuse? Too many to count. There have been numerous celebrities who have been on the show and talked about their abuse; if I could get some fame I could handle someone diddling my do-dads for a minute - not really but a lot of celebrities have been molested its uncanny. The Tyler Perry show with the 200 men who had been victims of abuse was Oprah's wet dream. Remember when Mackenzie Phillips talked about her incestuous relationship with her father, what a weirdo. That is not something you should tell the world.

6. Oprah's favorite things: Oprah's giveaways are as ridiculous as they are lavish. The best part of the show is not seeing the products but the reaction of the audience who almost literally shit their pants. The fact that paramedics are standing by is hilarious. Oprah's giveaways and favorites things provide awesome YouTube clips such as the "you get a car" clip and the "we're going to Australia" clips. Receiving honorable mention for a classic Oprah You Tube clip is from the last Oprah's favorite things where she rips off her dress revealing another red dress underneath of it and the audience loses it. The (SNL skit) about Oprah's favorite things is one of my favorites from Maya Rudolph.

7. Getting ghetto with sister Pat: Oprah finally revealed her black card when her half sister Pat showed up and her ghetto-ness was finally validated. After years of hiding it oprah's mom finally fessed up to having a secret child that she gave up for adoption and Oprah forced her to talk about when clearly she did not want to. Pat hit the lottery with this one, how many black women would kill to be Oprah's sister right now!

8. Oprah's weight: Every time Oprah lost weight she would act superior and talk about it but not everyone can afford personal trainers, chefs, and nutritionists because we are not worth over 2 billion dollars. And like the sun sets after every sunrise, Oprah gained the weight back and people rejoiced because it showed how she is like any other person, she likes to eat. It was clear that Oprah gave up on the weight struggle when she claimed she had a "thyroid condition"; it was also very evident she had given up with the weight struggle when she started having Paula Deen on the show since Paula clearly is not a fan of the low-fat diets.
